Approaching the Fortified Oasis

Hey there,

I'm working on that character line-up that I mentioned, but I feel like I need to do some more studies before I tackle the final designs. In the meantime here's a shot of Avery and his robot mechanic nearing the fort in the desert:

Also, here's a shot of me with my art director on the project. He keeps demanding that I add more bears to the story...

More soon!

Cheeyers!

Splendid and your art director looks like a ball buster! You better watch yourself around that guy!

Ps contrast on the horizon hills feels a bit too strong maybe? Perhaps simplify the strength and frequency of shapes back there?

That's a great shout about the horizon, Jake. I've toned down the contrast and saturation which should push it back further. Thanks for the crit!

Hey Nick, that's another fantastic piece! Love the contrast between the yellows of the sand and blues of the sky... The only thing that feels odd to me is the fact that the pin point of the rock on the left side of the picture meets exactly with the line created by the bottom of the background mountains... Is that intentional? 'Cause once I spotted this thing my eyes go right back to that place every time I look at the picture...

Busted! You are totally right Szymon . I meant to go back and fix that tangent, but I got lazy (the shame!). Cheers for making me correct that! I really appreciate all the crits you're giving me.

It's funny how often those tangents happen even if we are perfectly aware that we should avoid doing them...

Feel free to comment on my stuff as well. I'd love to get some constructive feedback from pros like yourself :)

Lovely!

(You should do a video of him re-enacting Nicolas Cage's bear-suit scenes from the Wicker Man)
