
I often do quick 3d blockouts for these images to find the most suitable camera positions and also to use as a rough basis for the painting. Here is an example of something I might start with:

Peter Oedekoven: Yeah, I find it really helps me to get a better grasp of each shot in my mind and a greater appreciation for space within each scene. Setting up a bunch of cameras in a scene and then cycling through the shots in turn is really useful too, I think. Love the work on your blog, btw.
